Since High school EPIC’s Nutritional Health Coach, Chris Mills has lived the duality of The Jock and the Theater kid. He’s spent more than 12 years working as a professional special fx makeup artist and stays connected to the industry through Silver Shamrock Lab, an award winning FX shop he and wife Amy own together.
In 2011, Mills life changed as he and Amy brought their amazing boy, Thomas into the world. Being a father and having a family has been a great adventure and taught the couple many lessons. Most importantly that they desired a life that could be spent enjoying Thomas and Harrison, their second son born in 2014.
It was in 2014 that Chris found himself tipping the scales at 280 pounds due to stress, overeating, and lack of exercise. His Doctor told him he needed to make some changes in his life. Enter the concept of fitness and nutrition.
Mills enacted a plan and noted that as he began to exercise and fuel his body with proper nutrition he felt renewed and more confident. He recalls, “It took me back to my younger years when I played ball, surfed, and was in great shape. It was then I realized that I wanted to become part of this community and help other people as well.”
Fast forward to the end of 2015 and he is down 40 pounds with over 15% body fat loss, has gained over 20 pounds of muscle. Chris and Amy currently compete in triathlons and spartan races. In fact Chris is not only our Nutritional Health Coach here at EPIC, he is a Challenger AND a Certified Spartan Trainer. He’ll tell you it wasn’t that long ago that he couldn’t even run a mile!
