Yoga began as an ancient practice that originated in India circa 3000 B.C. Stone-carved figures of yoga postures can be found in the Indus Valley depicting the original poses and practices. Yoga was developed as a way to achieve harmony between the heart and soul on the path to divine enlightenment.
Here at EPIC Fitness we have included a Yoga Class unlike any you may have tried in the past. Registered Yoga Instructor, Kim Galbraith has designed a class that helps the athlete achieve harmony in their heart and soul on the path to a successful competition!
Galbraith professes that at the onset of her 6th grade phys ed class, she “uhm, hated it!” but found that High School Volleyball was a more positive experience. Being exposed to yoga ultimately gave her the ability she desired to move her body and achieve harmony through fitness.
Having the ability to positively affect someone’s workout, game, match, competition, maybe assist with injury prevention and recovery along with mental outlook toward their sport and life is a big part of Kims “why”.
When asked why EPIC, Kim responded, “The foundational philosophy of EPIC in creating a tribal community where everyone supports each other’s success resonates with my soul.”
Galbraith earned both the 200 and 500 hour certifications as a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, along with being E-500 certified to educate yoga teachers in training (over 2,000 teaching hours), she is also a certified Power Yoga for Sports Elite Coach through New York based, Gwen Lawrence.
Kim relocated to Simi Valley in 1998 from Seattle, Washington, with husband and their two young children to take advantage of the slower paced lifestyle of the suburbs. And we are thrilled she is a part of the EPIC Fitness Tribe.
Make a point to experience EPIC’s Yogi Kim Galbraith’s Yoga Class on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45pm in The Loft.
